Obama and McCain Avoid Gay Marriage
Since Barack Obama and John McCain became the presidential nominees, they have been attacking each other on the slowing economy, the high price of gas, and the war in Iraq. However issues including gay marriage and abortion have yet to be properly addressed.

Gay hero Matthew Mitcham wins diving Gold medal
From gay icon, to Olympic champion, Australian, Matthew Mitcham has won his first gold medal. He is the only openly gay male athlete competing in Beijing. There are 9 lesbians and one bisexual woman competing alongside him.

How many 2008 Olympians are gay?
Only 10 of the 10,500 athletes competing in the Beijing Olympics are openly gay, according to a study by a gay website. Some gay athletes fear that coming out would bring disapproval from fans and team mates, others worry about the damage to endorsements, Outsports.com said. Unwarranted media attention could also detract from their performances, it added.

McCain: The Gays Who Tortured Me
In a first-person account of his time as a prisoner of war in North Viet Nam, John McCain, writing in US News and World Report in 1973, said of those who tortured him: "Some guards would just come in and do their job. When they were told to beat you they would come in and do it. Some seemed to get a big bang out of it. A lot of them were homosexual, although never toward us. Some, who were pretty damned sadistic, seemed to get a big thrill out of the beatings."
